Castle Rock Organic Farms Cream Line Chocolate Milk

Fantastic creamy flavor, though you do have to eat some of it. The chocolate settles rather quickly, but if you can catch it in suspension, you will be able to taste it— but cream is the predominant flavor. Vigorous shaking is insufficient to mix it completely— you will require mechanical means for this should you wish to try.

Beau & Belle Cocoa

Coarsely chocolaty— the kind that makes you feel like you’ve got a lovely cocoa film on your teeth. The strong chocolate flavor meshes well with its under-sweet base, providing a jolt of flavor that ends with a satisfyingly natural (yet slightly drying) aftertaste. Don’t be fooled by the cutesy package, this is an adult beverage.

Meiji Low Fat Chocolate Milk

Many times better than the Meiji I had in Thailand, this has a great balance of flavors— there’s plenty of salt to balance out the sweetness and amplify the cream. The texture feels milky and natural, super easy to drink, and 450mL goes surprisingly quickly when it’s executed well.

Starbucks Signature Chocolate

Definitely not Starbucks hot chocolate served in cold form. This is thin and smooth with a pleasant cream quotient, and respectably chocolaty. There is a slight mineral-y tang that makes a brief post-swallow cameo. Enjoyable nonetheless, and no, there’s no coffee in it.

Pure Chocolate Milk

Tastes as chocolaty as it looks, albeit a hair on the earthy side. Everything else plays its supporting role competently, and this comes off as being authentic, maturely indulgent, and among relatively elite company for chocolate milk in this area.

Broguiere's Chocolate Milk

Thick and ‘hearty’ (I hate that word), with a lingering sweetness and prominent vanilla flavor. I'm guessing that the thickness is its most beloved feature by the Broguiere’s faithful, but it feels a bit overplayed and not reinforced with enough chocolate or accessible creaminess (it goes down in gulps rather than a seamless dispersion from mouth to throat) to compete with the elite.

Lowes Foods Chocolate Milk

Much more malty than chocolaty, but creamy and unique. It’s fairly salty and leaves more of a post-swallow residue than an aftertaste. This won't satisfy your chocolate fix, but it’s malty and indulgent enough feeling to feel desserty.

Harmony Organic Chocolate Milk (1L carton)

Excellent creamy quality that the cocoa flavor unfortunately cannot live up to. I convinced myself that I tasted chocolate because I wanted to like it more than I actually did. On my second cup now, and while getting a pleasant maltiness, I also detect a slight rum-like flavor that I can't shake since having identified it.

Clover Farms Chocolate Milk

Powerfully malty to an extent that you double-check the label, which says ‘chocolate.’ Lovers of malt will find this irresistible, those expecting chocolate will be disappointed. I like it more for its uniqueness than anything else— it’s a pleasant departure from the bog-standard chocolate milk you typically find in gas stations.

Bové Chocolate

Excellent thin, milky consistency that does well to deliver the flavor that it is tasked to carry— a flavor that I’m warming up to with each sip. It’s highly unique, and has a buttery-rum like quality but not in a nasty/boozy manner. More butter than rum, the cocoa is there but can get a little lost in the shuffle. Give this an honest try, I promise by the end you’ll appreciate the uniqueness.

Candia Viva Chocolat

Nicely chocolaty with nothing else (texture or flavor-wise) that detracts materially from the experience. The sweetness plays its supporting role rather well, enhancing the cocoa flavor rather than overpowering it.
