One of the most common questions I get is "what's the best national brand of chocolate milk?" In my experience, here are the Top 5 national brands, in countdown fashion. At the end of the day, your personal opinion may vary, but I do my best to articulate why I feel the way I do. Happy drinking!
En route to a wedding in Fargo, we were able to stop at Elden's Fresh Foods in Alexandria to pick up some Ten Finns Creamery chocolate milk. Minnesota's first (and only) all A2A2 dairy makes a non-homogenized 2% chocolate milk-- a decidedly rare find these days-- in a gorgeous, old-school-yet-contemporary-looking paper carton. So how does it taste? Hop in the passenger seat, grab a plastic cup, and let's talk about it on our way back to MSP.
Lancaster County, Pennsylvania may have the highest concentration of local chocolate milks than any other area on the planet-- and here we highlight three of the county's raw chocolate milks, including one of which you can get in the mail!
Lone Oak Farm in Marion Center, PA pumps out some of the best chocolate milk around-- and that's saying something, since Pennsylvania is home to more local chocolate milk than any other place (of similar size) on earth. Here I do my best to talk you through (what I consider to be ) a complex and highly rewarding chocolate milk tasting-- pretentious as that might sound. It's ok to hate on me for that, I get it ;)
It's a daunting task, but someone has to do it-- cleaning out all the shelf-stable chocolate milk inventory that I've accumulated over the last couple of years. And by 'cleaning out'-- I mean drinking and reviewing all of it, even if it expired nearly 2 years ago.
Known far and wide for riverboat gambling and mud pie, Mississippi is not a state that immediately comes to mind when the topic of 'local dairies' is discussed. However, your opinion might change after watching this video where we highlight chocolate milks from 7 dairies and rank them in typical countdown fashion. So what's the best chocolate milk from Mississippi? You can take my word for it, or better yet-- head down to the Magnolia State and give it a try yourself-- I promise you won't regret it.
Sprouts Farmers Market is a reliable place to find great local chocolate milk all over the US-- but they've somewhat recently come out with their own 1% version. So is it worth a try, and how does it compare to its lowfat peers? We traveled to the far reaches of exotic Greensboro, NC to find out for ourselves.
Does freezing (and thawing) chocolate milk work? If so, how well does it work, and for how long can you freeze it? We attempt to answer those questions here with real-life examples from the deepest, darkest parts of my freezer.
You've seen it, you've tried it, you either love it or hate it.. It's high time we review one of the most ubiquitous chocolate milks in the nation-- that's right-- this is the Fairlife episode [triumphant horns]. Discretion is advised.
A local micro-dairy that produces both raw and pasteurized creamline chocolate milk-- both of which are insanely delicious? Yep! Can't think of a better place to catch up with a friend over a few pints-- you owe it to yourself to swing by Pottstown, PA to see why a couple chocolate milk connoisseurs get hot & bothered at the mere mention of Pigeon Creek Farm.
